What to do with earth wire if not needed

If the other way round then fit. Actually, an earth wire is like a antistatic wrist band that we use when we fool around with computer equipment. It works as a siphon for extra electrical charge around any electrical appliance. The earth wire gives a safe route for the current if the live wire touches the outer casing. Some appliances such as some vacuum cleaners and some electric drills do not need an earth wire.

Do not connect the live wire to the ground wire. Get a small sized wire nut, and use it to cap the live wire. Secure the ground wire around any mounting screw head in the electrical. If your new heater is double insulated it does not need an earth wire no problem, just connect the live and neutral. It is purely a safety feature to protect uses from.

The covering on an earth wire is used for identification but can also give the inner core some protection from damage. This is not retrospective and means that you do not need to have one on an existing lighting circuit. This does mean that no lighting or other electrical device that requires connection to earth cannot be used on the lighting circuit. So warnings should be given as such.

This generally means no metal switches, no metal lamp fittings. So the answer is no you do not need one. Having no earth at the light fittings or switches is not a major problem if you do not intend to replace plastic or non conductive light fittings and fixtures (switches etc.) with metal or class type. If you intend replacing lights or switches with chrome (metal) or anything that is class equipment, then an earth or Circuit Protective Conductor (CPC) is required. Older lighting circuits did not have an earth wire.

As most modern light fittings are made of plastic an earth is not needed. Earth needed ONLY if the cables in side the metal housing are not double insulated. Nowadays many are, for just that reason. Programm der Verbindungstechnik. Kontakthaltern oder Cu-Halterungen.

Wire a 4mm earth wire to the fitting from a known earth to the appliance. This can mean going from the board or from something like the socket circuit. You can fit a joint box onto the socket cable bare the wires back for the earth conductor (power off etc of course) and then run a 4mm earth wire from the socket cables earth. A ground ( earth ) wire is needed in not just a light circuit but in all circuits that are now installed. In some telegraph and power transmission circuits, the earth itself can be used as one conductor of the circuit, saving the cost of installing a separate return conductor (see single- wire earth return).

Min size of any earth cable no protected is 4mm² 543. The PEN cable has a min size of mm² 543. They do not have an earth wire or place to attach an earth wire.

The cables running to the fitting have wires in them, so there is an earth wire , but I would need to ensure the earth is connected at the other end – thats a whole new question so lets not go there as I may not need to. However, the instructions talk about fitting with an earth wire and therefore does this mean it is unsafe to use or can we still use it and just connect the other two wires. An earth wire , or ground wire , contains the charging reservoir on a circuit and provides a connection with the earth. I really hope this makes sense.

This means that a 2-core mains lead can be used and internal earth connections are not needed. Do I just trash it or should I attach it to the screws that are attaching the porcelain fixture to the blue round box? Thanks for the help just not sure what to do with ground could use nut just to put on it, heck I don’t know.
